During our recent trip to California Steph and I had a chance to visit Justin Winery in Paso Robles and let me tell you we were totally blown away by the experience and found a whole new appreciation for these truly amazing wines and can’t wait to share them with you as we partner them up with some perfectly paired courses. We will be joined by Jim Kriessler from Major Brands and great friend of Vino Cellars! The evening will consist of 4 amazing courses paired with the Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Justification Blend and of course the iconic Isosceles blend!

Course One: B.L.T. Salad

Rose – Dry, aromatic, refreshing wine that reminds us that while rosé is great on a hot summer day, it is also a versatile wine worth reaching for all year long. Starting with syrah that is whole cluster pressed and fermented like a white wine, it shows a beautiful salmon color in the glass with bright red fruit, crisp apple, savory herbal character and floral flavors and aromas.

Course Two: Meatball Skewer | Bordelaise Sauce 

Justification – Aromatic and complex with ripe red cherry, black currant and a little berry with vanilla, cinnamon and licorice spice, cedar and graphite notes, oak, leather, dried autumn leaves and a minty hint of camphor. Ripe cherry and cassis mixed with baking spice on entry joined by cedar and oak on the mid-palate with complex savory, herbal elements. The finish is long, balanced and clean, with returning red and black fruit and perfectly proportioned, fine, mouth-filling tannins. 57% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Franc.

Course Three: Grilled Strip Steak | Rosemary Gorgonzola Cream Sauce | Applewood Smoked Bacon Roasted Potatoes

Isosceles – Highly aromatic with ripe black cherry and cassis fruit, vanilla and cinnamon spice with cedar, graphite, dried autumn leaf and licorice notes over an attractive toasted oak background. Ripe, complex black fruit of cherry and blackcurrants layered with baking spice on the entry. The mid palate has continuing ripe fruit with savory dried leaf elements, cedar, anise, camphor and a bit of cocoa surrounded with firm, chewy tannins and sweet spice notes that add complexity as the palate evolves. Sustained fruit, spice and savory elements mix through a very long, complex and fresh finish with lingering tannins. 85% Cabernet Sauv., 8% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot.

Course Four: Lemon-Lime Shortbread

Sauvignon Blanc – A full palate of bright citrus fruit with a hint of fresh herbs balanced by a crisp, refreshing mineral structure.
